Nendaz, in the Valais area of Switzerland, is very easy to get to by both private and public transport.

By Air: The nearest airport is in Sion, 20 minutes away. Snowjet flies there from Stansted in the UK every Saturday and Sunday during the ski season (check out www.sionairport.ch and www.snowjet.co.uk). Bern Airport (169 kms) and Geneva Airport (165 kms) are the next nearest airports to the chalet. Geneva, in particular, has excellent international links with Europe and the rest of the world. It is well served by regular (eg Swissair, BA etc) and budget carriers (eg Easyjet) and it takes 90 – 120 minutes from the airport to Nendaz by train or car, depending on the time of day and conditions.

By Train: The nearest train station is in Sion, which lies on the Lausanne-Brig railway line, with frequent services from France, Geneva and Italy. Sion station has a regular train service from Geneva Airport station. From the station, some 16 kms from Nendaz, there is a regular post bus service to the centre of Nendaz or one can catch a taxi for the 20 minute ride up the mountains.

By bus: There are bus services from Lausanne (100 kms) or Montreux (80 kms) as well as from other towns and villages in the area, with connections going through Sion.

By car: The A9 motorway, running from Lausanne to Sierre passes through Sion in the valley below Nendaz. Driving from the English Channel ports or elsewhere in Europe is easy. The journey from the UK, for example, can be done in a day, with the three main routes being via Geneva, over the Jura mountains (via Pontarlier) or through Belgium, Luxembourg and northern Switzerland. Detailed directions for locating the chalet will be provided for renters.

Car Hire: Cars can be hired at Berne or Geneva Airport or in Sion. When renting a car in winter, please ensure that snow chains are provided, if you don’t rent a 4 x 4 car. Most rental cars will have snow tyres fitted in the winter months.
